The book of John is the most beautiful portrait of Jesus. In this Gospel Jesus describes Himself with the 7 "I am" sayings. (I am the bread of life; the light of the world; the door of the sheep; the good shepherd; the resurrection and the life; the way, the truth and the life; the true vine. These self descriptions are incredibly lovely and entirely complete in understanding His love and care for us. These "I am" pictures also complete the self description by God the Father in the Old Testament. (Exod. 3:14)
